The Nightshade Family
Hailing from the darkest edges of the forest, The Nightshade Family is a duo composed of The Deadly Mandrake (vocals, keyboard, accordion and guitar). Benjamin Holt (vocals, banjo, guitar and percussion). The Nightshade Family plies a trade that is equal parts Pre-Berlin cabaret, Appalachian folk music, and post-modern rock. Their album "Helping Hands" is a haunted yet blackly humorous journey through the deepest recesses of twenty-first century life. Set against a backdrop of small towns and city streets, "Helping Hands" contains a variety of tales about exploding cabins, buried bones of Lovecraftian creatures, voices from floorboards, and widowed dancers. Rounding out the instrumental ensemble on the album is Brian Kendrick (drums), Chris Howard and Charles Pacheco (guitar and bass). "Helping Hands" is the debut offering from The Nightshade Family, previously known for their equally raucous and poignant live show, which combines theatre and visceral energy for a truly unique experience.
